EN// "Smears" is a series in which I combine various techniques to project images onto concrete surfaces. Using plotted foils, I manipulate the so-called "cast skin" of the concrete. Additional layers are added through transfer gel, which allows me to apply printed fragments discovered during my online research.
Central to this series are so-called smear frames from Looney Tunes cartoons—animation techniques that create smoother motion by stretching and distorting characters between frames. These fleeting, in-between moments were never meant to be seen in isolation, and yet I find their raw, often bizarre deformations—of familiar figures like Bugs Bunny—deeply compelling.
By embedding these ephemeral distortions onto concrete plates, I aim to preserve them like fossils: traces of digital time, captured in solid form.
